I’ve been fascinated by weather for as long as I can remember. I still remember the sense of wonder on my mid-April birthday when I look out the window and saw a blanket of snow on the ground. When I was 11, I bought my first weather station with a long cable from the roof to my bedroom. Inside the cable were more than a dozen wires that had to be connected. Eight of the wires were to for the weathervane. No temperature, humidity or barometer. Temperature and a wet bulb sling psychrometer to measure humidity were housed in a weather box in the back hard.  The rest were to measure wind speed. It a far cry from the one I have now that is wireless and attached to a network.

If you would like to follow weather stations in your own area, the Ambient Network is really good. Weather Underground has a network too. Both offer apps too.
